Learning how to blog is a shear joy. OK, sarcasm is lost in singular statements because facial expression, tone of voice, and timing are all flat in script. However, sarcasm can be much more fun in writing! Where I find it to be not as dry and uncreative as it usually is verbally. You have to follow along with a little more attention to detail … whatever!
What really matters is that I'm here now, writing. At least I tell myself that matters. Well of course it does. It matters to me! As I intend to put some snippet up here at least once a day as a way to track my poor memory. No really, I have a good memory for somethings, namely numbers, formulas, equations, where things are and how to orientate myself geographically. However, as far as timeline and names are concerned, I'm fairly rank – rank in the poor smell sense of the word. So I apologise to those of you whom I know I love but have forgotten to write or send word and reminisce on times had and shared. Though, most likely, if you are one of those people and find yourself reading this now, it will bring you little amusement. Then again, I appreciate you being here now and that's all that matters! I think this is where I need to add a smiley face. Ah, where are the emoticons in emacs!
This is arcane to most, but if you're looking for a good way in which to blog from emacs-org on Max OS Lion, then you can follow these simple steps to get you going:
- read about, then download googlecl, and then follow the installation instructions
- install python-gdata on your machine; the ways in which to do this are numerous and platform dependent. I used macports and installed via:
sudo port -v install py27-gdata
- read about, then download org-gogglecl and then follow the installation instructions and customise to your liking
Note: Richard Riley states that he has not tried it on Mac OS X, and that is fair enough, so I'm here to report that it does indeed work on OS X Lion (latest release as of today
So where was I going with post? Well no where really as it is merely a test to make sure that I can use my computer organisational saviour, emacs-org, for posting of my ``o''blogs. No that's not a misspelling of blogs. It's my silly attempt at prepending the org into my blog. Ha, ha, I'm sooooo clever!
Ya, so anyways, I've reformatted my blog (as I'm sure you were so quick to notice), changed it's name (Dad I hope you like the new name!), and now set myself to the task of actually updating regularly. And if your memory is truly atrocious, you can read my next blog to know why my new found enthusiasm on posting blogs regularly, and if you're still confused or can't remember after that then know it is because I love you, and that matters!
Until later … diver down.
